Ancient cake – flag of difference among nations

 Cheese cake became popular in our country in last decade, considered modern because of cheese, its salty ingredient. But, history of cheese cake comes from old Greek and Roman empire – cakes made of wheat, flour, cheese and honey are made as sweet snack for contestants of First Olympic games. And cheese cake itself was traditionally wedding cake.
Recipe spread out through Europe and got its variations depending on cheese special for that region – so, cheese cake with kvark is made in Poland, Germany and Nordic countries, while Neufhatel, norman soft nubble cheese is used in France. Mascarpone and ricotta are signs of Italian variation, while Irish make colourfull cream, with Bailey`s and cocoa. Greek prefer micitra, fresh goat and sheep cheese, but most refined and minimalistic variation cheese cake got in New York – crushed cracker crust is dressed with roasted custard made of eggs and cream cheese.So, while travelling around the world, you can get familiar with countries through sightseeing as well as trying famous cake that has long tradition.
